White wine pairs with almost any meat entrée, whether it be fish, chicken, pork or lamb. White wine sauce is the same way – it pairs with many dishes and provides a subtle hint of white wine, parsley and sweetness.

White wine sauce is one of the easiest sauces to make. To begin, you will need 1 cup heavy whipping cream, ¾ cup of white wine, 2 tablespoons of unbleached flour, 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of fresh dried parsley leaves. For the best tasting white wine cream sauce, use only freshly dried whole parsley. To prepare the parsley for cooking, try wrapping the dried leaves in a paper towel and carefully crush the leaves.

Starting with a medium size saucepan, combine the cream, wine and flour over medium to high heat. Let the cream just barely start to bubble before you add the rest of the ingredients. Once you have a nice thick cream, add the salt and parsley. Allow the mixture to come to a full roiling boil. Once you have the cream boiling, reduce the heat and let cool down.

Scallops in white wine sauce is simply delicious. For a great delicious entrée, fully cook your scallops and place them into the white wine sauce. Let the cream sauce just barely come to a boil and you’re ready for a delicious meal. You can also add egg noodles or stuffed tortellini. A quick meal or easy lunch could be egg noodles, scallops and delicious white wine sauce. Or, a great dinner could be white wine sauce with scallops, green bean casserole and potatoes au gratin.

When you are using white wine sauce in your meal, don’t forget to include wine as a beverage! Just because you’re cooking with wine doesn’t mean you shouldn’t also pair wine with your food. White wine sauce tends to have sweet undertones that pair well with a drier red Syrah or a light Cabernet Sauvignon.
